Vocademy Maker Skills Academy Intended for Students Seeking College Alternative
The Academy states that this program is ideal for students seeking an alternative to college, a learning program to explore maker skills, an effective pre-engineering program before entering university and a set of job skills that will “make their STEM or maker careers future-proof.”
Vocademy’s Maker Skills Academy (MSA) is a hands-on skills program that covers vocational, career and soft skills training. The six-month program is open to anyone 16 and older with no prerequisites, transcripts or GPA requirements. The first 10-student MSA team starts July 2019, and enrollment is currently open.

The Gap Year program includes over 90 fundamentals classes such as:
- 3D Printing, Computer Aided Design, Laser Cutting & Engraving
- Sewing & Textiles, Plastics and Composites, Costume, Prop, & Model Making
- Electronics, Circuits & Components, Hardware Programming
- Robotics & Automation, Raspberry Pi & Arduino
- Welding & Fabrication, Wood Working, Machine Shop & CNC
- Hand Tools, Power Tools, Support Equipment
- Life skills, Career Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, and more
Students will also have access to Vocademy’s Maker Labs every evening, allowing students to use its prototyping facility to practice their skills, collaborate, create resumes and build capstone projects.
