Honing on a machining center? I first heard of it a while back at a customer event sponsored by Mazak Corp. (Florence, Kentucky). The honing system supplier had a tabletop display next to the HMC demonstrating the process. The concept intrigued me. This discovery eventually led to a feature article about one of the system’s first users. Tabletop displays are often a great way to discover new and interesting developments, but they are only one aspect of customer events that make them worthwhile.
Mazak has another customer event planned for May 25-26 at its Northeast Regional Technology Center in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The focus is on Aerospace Machining. Look for tabletops displays and other exhibits form participating suppliers: Kennametal, LNS Bar Feeders & Steady Rests, Mastercam, Royal Workholding, Sandvik Coromant and Tecnara Tooling & Rotary Tables.
