Big Kaiser has introduced the Base Master Red and Base Master Mini machine tool sensors. The first is a precision touch sensor that determines workpiece offsets and tool lengths, while the latter is a more compact tool offset sensor. Both are part of the Base Master family of sensors.

The Base Master Red can be used with all types of machines and materials, according to the company, including non-conductive cutting tools, workpieces and machine tools. It allows the operator to quickly touch-off a tool without risk of damage or breakage. The body set and measuring sensor are independent of each other, simplifying maintenance to simply replacing the measuring sensor. This avoids expensive repair costs and long delivery times. The probe features repeatability of ±0.001 mm. To increase flexibility in real-world conditions, it has a solid magnetic base that mounts vertically, horizontally, or at any angle.

The Base Master Mini’s compact design increases speed while providing accurate results. The main feature of this sensor is the slim height of 10 mm (0.397") making it ideal for small lathes in which working space is limited. For rapid reference point detection, it is fitted with a bright green LED light. It is compatible with all workpieces. It has a battery life of 10 hours continuous use so that the sensor will not fail in the middle of a job.
