AMUG Announces 2021 Board Members

Additive Manufacturing Users Group announced leadership and board appointments for 2021-22, which include established members and new participants.

Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) is an organization that educates and advances the uses and applications of additive manufacturing technologies. AMUG has realigned its management team and named its board members for this year.

The 2021- 2022 AMUG Board members are:

  • President: Carl Dekker, Met-L-Flo
  • Past president: Paul Bates, ASTM International
  • Vice president: Andrew Allshorn, AT 3D-Squared
  • Treasurer: Vince Anewenter, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE)
  • Secretary: Leslie Frost, GE Additive
  • Director of membership: Bill Macy, Titan Robotics
  • Director of education & conference: Jordan Weston, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE)
  • Director of business development: Tim Bell, Siemens Digital Industries USA
  • Director of events and hospitality: Thomas Sorovetz, Stellantis
  • Director at large: Gary Rabinovitz, Reebok International

AMUG members include those with industrial additive manufacturing/3D printing technologies and materials used for professional purposes.

Dekker, Allshorn, Frost and Anewenter will be the officers of the organization as well as directors on AMUG’s board. From a realignment of AMUG’s management team, four new director positions were created. These positions will be held by Bill Macy of Titan Robotics, Jordan Weston of MSOE, Tim Bell of Siemens Digital Industries USA and Gary Rabinovitz of Reebok International. Macy, Weston and Bell were elected to serve on the board for the first time. Rabinovitz previously served five terms as Chairman and five terms in roles including president, past president, vice president and board advisor.

Macy will hold the position of director of membership. Weston, who has served as chair of the Track Leader Committee for three years and as a tracker leader for six years, will assume the director of education & conference position. Bell will hold the position of director of business development. Rabinovitz was appointed to the director at large position.

Carl Dekker, AMUG president, said, “We established a new management structure to better support AMUG’s growth. While much thought and deliberation went into the planning, I expect to find that the structure and individual roles will require some adaptation.”

He continued, “I am quite pleased with the incoming board’s mix of long-term service and first-time participation as we implement the new structure. We will have fresh ideas balanced by historical perspectives.”

Dekker also expressed gratitude for those on the current board being willing to extend their terms of service, due to pandemic-induced election postponement, yet producing an amazing 2021 AMUG Conference. He also offered thanks to two board members that are stepping down: Jamie Cone of BD, who served three terms as vice president, and Todd Grimm of T. A. Grimm & Associates Inc., who served nine terms as AM industry advisor.

The board’s responsibilities will include building the program for the 2022 conference, soliciting support from businesses in the additive manufacturing industry and overseeing the event's day-to-day activities. The five-day conference will feature the AMUGexpo, hands-on workshops, training labs, instructional sessions, technical presentations, and an off-site dinner. The 2022 AMUG Conference will be held in Chicago, Illinois, from April 3 to 7.
