Solid Diamonds and a Speakeasy: Meeting Q-Mark Metrology
Q-Mark has built its metrology business by providing what customers need, when they want it. This goes for its IMTS booth, too, with free drinks alongside custom technology.

Visitors to Q-Mark’s booth will find a design out of time — and technology for today. Q-Mark has designed its space as a Chicago speakeasy, serving coffee from the show’s opening to noon each day, with beer from noon to the show’s closing (at a limit of one drink per visitor).
As for the technology on display, Q-Mark is displaying a sampling of its metrology products. The company offers styli for CMMs and in-machine inspection, with a wide variety of sizes on offer as well as custom probe tips for shops’ particular needs. Q-Mark also now offers custom kits: bundles of customer-chosen probes that President and Founder Mark Osterstock says are particularly useful for shops just starting to expand their measurement capabilities.
In addition to traditional ruby and diamond-coated options, Q-Mark provides solid diamond styli endings. Though more costly, he says styli equipped with these endings offer a dramatically longer tool life than alternatives.
Osterstock says that his company aims to relieve measurement bottlenecks. This goal has led to what he sees as one of its key advantages: Q-Mark provides same-day and overnight shipping on its products, both standard and custom.
